Italy forward, Mario Balotelli has shared that he regrets leaving English Premier League giants Manchester City.

Speaking to the Athletic in an interview, the striker said leaving the club based in the blue side of Manchester was his biggest mistake.

"I think that was my biggest mistake, to leave City.

"Even the year I left, I played very well in Milan for a year and a half, but after that I had some problems. And now that I'm older, I know I wouldn't have shouldn't have left City at this time,” Mario Balotelli shared.

The forward who believes he had the same quality as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo continued, "All these years of seeing City improve, improve and improve. I could have been here like Sergio Aguero for a long time.

"If I had my current state of mind when I was at City, I probably could have won a Ballon d'Or (Ballon d'Or), I'm sure. But you know, when you grow up , you mature more.”

In his long career marred by controversy, the striker enjoyed success, particularly at Manchester City. He went on to play for AC Milan, Liverpool, and some other European top sides.
