Doreen Awuah has revealed that her parents did not support her football career initially but changed their minds when she got the opportunity to travel outside Ghana.

The former Black Queens skipper speaking on “Where Are They” also stated that she was not happy to inform her parents about her trip to the US.

“It was a very good feeling it was a very nice feeling Africa Women’s Championship is there before you go and feature in that before you qualify for the World Cup we went for a training tour in the US. Because my father refused to support me I wasn’t happy to inform them," she said on Happy FM as monitored by footballghana.com.

"When we were going for the training tour in the US I didn’t believe it was me my father and mother heard the news on the radio that we were going to the US. That was when they started supporting me if it wasn’t that moment they wouldn’t have supported me. The allowance given to us when I came back I opened the money and to him to take some of the money. I bet you my father could take some of the money. I took some of the money and gave it to them. That is when they started supporting me,”
