Spanish-born Ghanaian winger Nico Williams, one of the standout player of the Euro 2024 tournament, has proven his ability once again, this time on the grand stage of the final against England.
The player, who already had an impressive season in Germany, further cemented his reputation as a force to be reckoned with.
Williams was instrumental in scoring the opening goal, a stunning effort that originated from the right wing and culminated in a spectacular finish. The highlight of the moment, however, was his unique celebration. Williams, along with Lamine Yamal, broke into a small dance, followed by a gesture to the camera that was reminiscent of Brazilian star Neymar's signature celebration.
With his hands on his head and tongue out, Williams paid tribute to his childhood idol. When asked about his celebration post-match, Williams explained, "Neymar is one of my idols. I admired him as a kid." However, he was quick to add that he hopes to emulate Neymar's success in his own way, staying true to his athletic roots and the values of his club, Athletic.
"I hope to achieve what he has, but in my own way, a more low-key way," Williams stated after Spain's triumphant win in the Euro 2024 final.
