Nico Williams' fitness concerns loom ahead of Copa del Rey final against Mallorca

Athletic Bilbao's Copa del Rey final against Mallorca on April 6th at the Estadio Olímpico de Sevilla may be missing a key player, as Nico Williams is currently struggling with muscle issues.

The Spanish-born Ghanaian winger has been a cornerstone in coach Ernesto Valverde's plans this season, featuring in 29 of the team's 37 games, starting 25 of them.

Williams' influence on the team is undeniable, ranking eighth in minutes played and being one of only seven players to have played more games this season. His consistency and performance have not gone unnoticed, as he has also become a regular in the Spanish national team under coach Luis de la Fuente.

The 21-year-old winger, born in Pamplona, has been a mainstay in the Bilbao squad, playing 51 games last season and 43 the season before. His importance to the team and his impressive form have earned him a spot in the team currently sitting fifth in La Liga. However, his recent muscle problems due to the accumulation of minutes could potentially sideline him for the crucial Copa del Rey final.

With Williams' fitness in doubt, Bilbao will be hoping for a swift recovery for their star winger, as they look to secure silverware this season.
