Nigerian coach Augustine Eguavoen has said that his team needs to improve on their finishing when they face Ghana in a 2022 FIFA World Cup second leg playoff on Tuesday evening in Abuja.

The tension is building up for the massive showdown at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja which hold the destiny over 200 million Nigerian fans.

The Super Eagles held the Black Stars to a 0-0 draw at the Baba Yara Stadium in the first leg and are hoping to secure qualification on home turf.

The Black Stars landed in Abuja on Monday in preparation for the second part of the play-off against Nigeria and has set sights on securing qualification at away.

“We want to score goals,” Eguavoen said.

“The opportunities may rarely come in high-level matches like this, so when you’ve the chance, you have to take it.

“Ghana played very well. I have said from day one that they are not a pushover, they are a team we respect, and they respect the Nigerian team as well.

“In the first leg, there was no big clear-cut chance for the Ghanaian team, but we came close to scoring. So, tomorrow, every chance we get must count. Scoring goals is what we are trying to correct,” he added.

A scoring draw will see Ghana qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup mundial in Qatar in November this year whiles Nigeria needs a win to make it at the expense of Ghana.

Nigeria are in search of their 7th World Cup qualification whereas Ghana chase their 4th qualification.
