Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) president, Kwesi Nyantakyi, has voiced his support for Otto Addo's appointment as the Black Stars coach, urging Ghanaians to stand behind him for success.

Otto, who was reappointed Black Stars coach after Ghana's disappointing performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations under Chris Hughton, led Ghana to qualify for the 2022 World Cup by edging Nigeria in the playoffs.

The former Borussia Dortmund talent coach subsequently guided the team at the Qatar tournament before stepping aside after the competition.

Nyantakyi highlighted Addo's experience, noting his previous roles within the team, including as a player during the 2006 World Cup and later as a scout and assistant coach.

“I believe that Otto Addo can manage the team provided he gets the right support. He has been a player of the Black Stars before,” Nyantakyi told Onua FM.

“He is part of the the squad that played in the 2006 World Cup Cup and 2014 we brought him back as a scout and later he came as a coach or assistant coach in the World Cup.

“He has come back and I believe if we rally him the support that he desires, he can do well,” he added.
