Ghana's head coach, Otto Addo, has heaped praise on debutant Forson Amankwah following the Black Stars' 2-1 loss to Nigeria in an international friendly played in Morocco on Friday.

Despite the defeat, Addo was impressed with Amankwah's performance, describing him as a young player with great potential.

Ghana conceded two early goals to Cyriel Dessers and Ademola Lookman, putting Nigeria in a commanding position. However, the Black Stars fought back, scoring a late penalty through Jordan Ayew in the 95th minute. Despite the valiant effort, it was not enough to level the scores as Nigeria held on for the win.

Speaking to Ghana Football Communications after the match, Addo singled out Amankwaa for his impressive debut.

The coach noted that Amankwaa could have scored himself if he had been more self-conscious in certain situations. However, he was quick to add that the young player's performance was impressive, especially considering he was up against a strong Nigerian team.

Addo also commended Amankwaa for his defensive work. He concluded by saying that Ghana has a promising player to look up to in the coming years.

"He was really, really good. I mean he is a young guy, very good positioning, very firm on the ball and solid on the ball. If he would be a little bit more self-conscious in certain situations he could have finished himself I think," he said.

"But it’s really, really impressive for a young guy to step up against a strong Nigerian team and be so self-conscious with the ball, good positioning, also working hard defensively is really, really good. I think we have someone we can look up to in the coming years," he added.
