Performances of Hearts of Oak this season not reflecting the work done by board - Togbe Afede

Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club's Executive Board Chairman, Togbe Afede XIV, has expressed worry over the team's performances in the 2023-2024 Ghana Premier League season not reflecting the work the board has done.

The Phobians have managed to secure only four points from four league games this campaign.

While they clinched a narrow victory against Nsoatreman FC with a 1-0 scoreline, they suffered similar defeats to Real Tamale United and Bofoakwa Tano.

In the latest league fixture, Martin Koopman’s side settled for a goalless draw against Dreams FC at the Accra Sports Stadium, further frustrating their loyal fan base.

This performance comes on the heels of a disappointing 12th-place finish in the previous season.

Addressing the club's annual general meeting, Togbe Afede XIV reflected on the current state of affairs, emphasizing the discrepancy between the board's efforts and the team's on-field performance.

He stated, "I think that Hearts is on a good course, the outlook is very good. It is unfortunate the performances so far in the current league has not reflected what this board has done.

“Very soon I am sure we will be able to deliver and we will all be happy but in any case we are on the right course."

Looking ahead, Hearts are slated to face Kpando Heart of Lions on Sunday, October 15, in a pivotal match that holds the potential to turn their fortunes around.
