PHOTO: Stunning Statistic Reveals Just How Much Better Lionel Messi Is at Free-Kicks Than Ronaldo

An absolutely staggering statistic has just been revealed that shows just how dominant Lionel Messi has been over a free kick in comparison to his La Liga rival Cristiano Ronaldo.

Since Ronaldo's arrival at Madrid in 2009, the pair have been in constant battle with each other, whether it be the amount of goals scored in the league, the number of hat-tricks or the number of Ballons d'Or' received.

But it's fair to say, when it comes to free kick accuracy and ability, Messi stands head and shoulders above his rival and fellow La Liga legend, and here's why:

A simply remarkable statistic!

Having reminded us all of his ability to hit the back of the net from a dead ball situation in recent weeks against the likes of Villarreal and Athletic Bilbao, the statistic that he can miss his next 241 attempts and still have a better ratio than Ronaldo really puts it into perspective.

In scoring those two free-kicks, Messi has also matched the club's record for number of set-piece goals scored in a Catalan shirt, previously set by former defender and current Everton boss Ronald Koeman.

On finding out Messi's equalling of his record, the Dutchman has since urged the Argentinian to go on and break the record once and for all after tweeting the following:

Congratulations on scoring your 26th free kick goal @FCBarcelona tonight, Leo #Messi! One to go to break another record  pic.twitter.com/eaoS5e1dR7

And judging by Messi's recent form for Barcelona, this won't take long, as well as seeing that the club's next fixture is a relatively comfortable home clash against La Liga new boys Las Palmas.
