Minister for Youth and Sports Nii Lantey Vanderpuje took back his hanged football boots and played for both Accra Hearts of Oak U20 side Auroras and Vision Explorers Soccer Academy at the new Pantang Stadium on Monday, 12th September, 2016.

The minister who used to play active football during his youthful days, decided to show the crowd at the 3000-capacity stadium, built by Vision Explorers Soccer Academy, his football skills which haven’t faded after all.

The game which saw Auroras lose 2-0 to VESA was played to inaugurate the home team’s new stadium on Monday with the Hon. Minister of Youth and Sports, Nii Lantey Vanderpuje serving as a guest of honour.

Auroras were guests of Vision Explorers Soccer Academy managed by former Hearts of Oak star Charles Taylor.

Accra Hearts of Oak were well represented at the unveiling ceremony with Administrative Manager Hackman Aidoo leading a delegation, including new acting head coach Yaw Preko, Team Manager Sabahn Quaye, National Chapters, Auroras head coach Sérgio Traguil and video analyst Elton Nunes were also at the game.

The Hon. Sports Minister played 10 minutes for either side during the game. He was on the side of the home team when they won an early penalty to take the lead, but he could not lead Auroras to earn an equalizer when he switched positions.
