Players leave Black Stars with pain - Asamoah Gyan

Asamoah Gyan has disclosed that many players leave the senior national team, the Black Stars with pain.

Gyan, who has not had the best of times with the Black Stars believes that the country forces these players to retire from international football pre-maturely.

The 34-year-old announced his retirement from the Black Stars ahead of the 2019 Afcon, however, he rescinded his decision after President Nana Akufo Addo spoke to him to reconsider his decision.

"If we look at things, people leave the national team with pain," Gyan said on Adom TV.

"There are a lot of players, I can testify. I don’t want to mention names but for me, I am just there."

The former Sunderland striker is the all-time leading goalscorer of the Black Stars, with 51 goals.

He has represented Ghana at three FIFA World Cup tournaments and eight Africa Cup of Nations tournaments, helping them finish runners-up in 2010 and 2015 respectively.

He is Africa's top goalscorer in the history of the World Cup with six goals.
