Portuguese outfit CS Maritimo secure signing of Ghanaian winger Francis Cann

Portuguese second-tier club CS Maritimo have successfully secured the services of Ghanaian winger Francis Cann, Footballghana.com can confirm.

The 25-year-old signed a two-year deal with his new outfit, keeping him at the club until 2025.

Cann becomes the fifth signing of Maritimo who are keen to secure promotion back to the Portuguese top-flight after suffering demotion in the just ended season.

Before the acquisition of the Ghanaian winger, Maritimo had competed the signing of goalkeeper Samú Silva, defender Igor Julião and forwards Lucas Silva, and Higor Platiny.

The Ghanaian international is expected to play a huge role for his outfit as they eye a quick return to the top-flight.

Cann leaves fellow Portuguese side Vizela following a six-year spell at the club. He joined the club’s junior team in the 2016/17 campaign before earning promotion to the senior team, whetre he played 94 official games and scored 8 goals.

The winger was instrumental for Vizela during the 2021/2022, where he helped the club to secure promotion to the top-flight. He played 32 games across competitions and scored 5 goals.

During his six-year spell, Cann was loaned out on three occasions, featuring for Vitória de Guimarães youth team (2018/19), Mafra (2021/22) and Saudi Arabia side Al-Hazm.
