Preston manager Alex Neil believes Fulham defender Denis Odoi deserved his red card in their clash

Manager for Preston North End, Alex Neil has noted that he believes Ghanaian international Dennis Odoi deserved to be shown a red card when the two clubs locked horns on Tuesday night.

The center-back was in action for his side yesterday but was unfortunately given the marching orders after just 28 minutes of action.

The Belgian-born Ghanaian defender elbowed Preston North End attacker Patrick Bauer, leaving the referee for the day no choice but to send him off.

Meanwhile, Joe Rafferty was also red-carded on the 45th minute to reduce Preston’s men to 10 men as well.

Commenting on whether the two sending off calls was problematic, Preston North End manager Alex Neil shared, "Having watched them [the red card incidence] back, no I don't think so.

He elaborated, “With their red card the lad was a bit unfortunate because normally when someone goes up to head the ball they put their hands up.

"But Patrick went up with his hands down and not only that, the lads turn and hits him with his shoulder.

"The fact he turns and catches him clean in the face and the way Pat fell, it was a bad connection. He was really late going for the header.

"I think if it didn't catch Pat as bad as it did, it may not have been a red card but how clean the contact was and you saw Pat's head jerk back, it looked like a red card”.

Dennis Odoi is now set to miss Fulham’s next match against Brentford this weekend.
