German-Ghanaian forward Prince Osei Owusu scored a brace but it was not enough as his Toronto FC side lost to Charlotte FC on Sunday morning.

In a thrilling encounter at the Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte FC clinched a narrow 3-2 victory.

The match saw Kerwin Vargas draw first blood for Charlotte FC with an impressive strike in the 39th minute.

However, the lead was short-lived as Prince Osei Owusu swiftly equalised for Toronto FC just four minutes into the second half.

Undeterred, Charlotte FC regained the lead courtesy of Liel Abada, only for Osei Owusu to once again level the score with a well-timed tap-in from a pass by Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty in the 78th minute.

With the game hanging in the balance, Owusu’s compatriot Patrick Agyemang, introduced just a minute after Charlotte FC conceded their second goal, proved to be the decisive factor.

Agyemang sealed the victory with a composed finish in the 85th minute.

Owusu was a second half substitute and netted his second and third goals of the season in eight matches.
