Real Madrid and Milan Reportedly Chase Luis Campos in Hunt for New Sporting Director

Real Madrid are reportedly looking for a new sporting director and have Portuguese scout Luis Campos firmly in their sights. Milan are also credited with interest, as are Marseille after the takeover by American billionaire and former LA Dodgers ownerFrank McCourt.

Campos formerly worked at the Bernabeu as a technical scout for Jose Mourinho and a story from Telefoot in France has put Real in the frame as they try and fill a position that has been left vacant since Jorge Valdano (pictured with Mourinho below) was dismissed in 2011.

Campos is of course already familiar with Real and is said to have made a positiveimpression oncurrent head coach Zinedine Zidane when the Frenchman was invited back to visit the club by Mourinho in 2013 shortly before returning for good.

It is said that Campos, who joined Monaco as sporting director that same year after declining to follow Mourinho from Madrid to Chelsea, has already held discussions with Marseille and is not ruling out a move to Stade Velodrome as he also continues talks with both Real and Milan.

Going to Marseille would offer a big project for a club that has financially struggled of late, while at Milan he would have the backing of the club's Chinese investors to help return the Rossoneri to the pinnacle of Italian and European football after several years of struggle.

Campos, also linked with Manchester United over summer as a result of his connection to Mourinho, is credited with overhauling a Monaco squad that was newly promoted back to Ligue 1 and reached the Champions League quarter finals within two years.

Away from thebig money arrivals and then departures of Radamel Falcao and James Rodriguez, he largelytargeted young players, including the likes of Anthony Martial, Fabinho, Bernardo Silva and Geoffrey Kondogbia.
