Tammy Abraham may have just 53 minutes of Premier League football on his CV but Newcastle United fans could still be forgiven for feeling excited about the teenager’s seemingly impending arrival at St James’ Park.

According to The Chronicle, the 19-year-old Chelsea starlet has been in negotiations over a season-long loan move to Tyneside. And Newcastle are increasingly confident of landing their top summer target ahead of newly-promoted rivals Brighton.

After netting 23 goals on loan at Bristol City in the Championship last season, it’s fair to say Abraham deserves his chance at a higher level.

A poacher extraordinaire, his knack for being in the perfect place at the perfect time would certainly come in handy as Rafael Benitez’s side aim to impress on their return to the Premier League.

And it appears that Chelsea believe that Newcastle is the best possible environment for their most exciting academy graduate in recent memory.

After all, Christian Atsu enjoyed his most impressive season in English football during a loan at Newcastle in 2016/17. The Ghanaian winger failed to nail down a role during previous spells at Everton and Bournemouth but featured 32 times under Benitez last season, his six league goals helping The Magpies claim the Championship title.

Atsu has since made his loan move permanent for £6.5 million, as reported by The Mirror.

Therefore, The Chronicle adds that Atsu finding his feet at Newcastle has convinced Chelsea boss Antonio Conte that Benitez will give Abraham a chance to prove his worth next season.
