The Communications Director for Berekum Chelsea, Isaac Amponsah has noted that continuing the football season behind closed doors will lead to the collapse of many clubs.

The 2019/2020 Ghanaian football season has been suspended for the last two months to help curb the spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) disease.

While it is uncertain as to when the season can continue due to the rising number of confirmed Covid-19 cases, there are calls for the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to consider the closed-door options.

Sharing his thought on the argument, Isaac Amponsah who is the Communications Director for Berekum Chelsea has kicked against the idea.

According to him, playing football behind closed doors in the country will cause the collapse of a lot of clubs.

“Am saying this on authority, if we try to play behind closed doors in Ghana here, most of our clubs will totally collapse”, he said in an interview with Nkunim FM

“Have they [the GFA] consider the financial power of the clubs? Are the GFA ready to support the clubs financially?”, he further asked.

Meanwhile, the Ghana FA is expected to decide the fate of the football season next month.
