Richard Kingson asked me to play in AFCON 2008- Fatau Dauda

Legon Cities captain Fatau Dauda revealed that Richard Kingson asked him to step into the spotlight before the third place playoff game against Ivory Coast but changed his mind afterwards.

The former AshantiGold goalkeeper made it to the squad for the tournament but failed to earn any minute throughout the competition.

In an interview with Joy FM, he admitted that the reason for his non-involvement may be because he was too young at the time.

"I remember in the last game Richard Kingson was forced to play even though he was injured because I was young. Richard Kingson asked me if I wanted to play the game and I said yes. He wanted to let me play but maybe he thought I was too young then. I was the only player who didn’t get any minutes in the tournament."
