Leicester received an enquiry from Tottenham Hotspur in January for their Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez, according toSportsMole.

The skilful attacker was crowned PFA Player of The Year last year, but has failed to make an impact on Leicester's abysmal season.

Having scored 17 goals last year Mahrez was linked to a variety of clubs in the summer, including La Liga giants Barcelona.

Leicester's number 26 has only provided three goals in the league this term, although, he has also scored four during the club's impressive Champions League group stage.

Tottenham's approach for the Algerian was quickly turned down by the Foxes as they find themselves involved in a relegation scrap in the Premier League.

Many believe that the sale of key man N'Golo Kante has led to Leicester's performance this year, so it's understandable that they don't want to sell anymore of their top stars.

Claudio Ranieri's men currently sit 16th in the league and are only one point above the relegation zone.

Last year they only lost three games all season, whereas this term they have already lost 13. Many thought that the side wouldn't be able to replicate last year, but very few could've guessed their low league position.

It's not all doom and gloom at the King Power stadium though, after only losing one game during theirChampions League group stage, the Foxes are through to the last 16 where they face Sevilla.

Their counter-attacking style has proved too hot to handle for the European clubs and Ranieri will be hoping a good Champions League run can lead to a confidence boost in the league.
