Young French coach, Romain Folz has arrived in Ghana to begin his new job as head coach of AshantiGold SC.

The 30-year-old arrived in the country on Sunday evening.

According to multiple media reports, Folz will sign a two year deal with the Miners ahead of the second half of the Ghana Premier League season.

Folz is not new to the Ghanaian topflight, having enjoyed a brief stint with Bechem United last year.

He, however, quit the Hunters’ job after some two weeks on medical grounds.

The gaffer will replace Serbian coach Milovan Cirkovic who parted ways with the club due to health reasons.

The Miners are 10th on the league chart with 22 points from 17 matches after the first half of the season.

AshantiGold play away to Karela United when the second round of the Ghana Premier League kicks off next week.

Later in July, Romain Folz reunited with former Uganda head coach Sebastien Desabre at French Ligue 2 side Chamois Niortais FC, assisting him as a video/performance analyst at the Stade René Gaillard outfit.

Folz’s most significant experience in Africa has been his stint with the Uganda national team where he worked in the same capacity under Desabre for the Cranes months before and during their participation at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

He also previously worked as a coach in the American lower leagues with ISL League Two side West Virginia Chaos.
