Former Manchester United winger Ryan Giggs has said that Javier Zanetti is the toughest defender he faced during his amazing 24-year career.

The Welshman came up against many a defender in his time, but has singled out Zanetti as the one he hated playing against the most.

Zanetti -now retired -spent 11 years at Inter Milan, making 615 appearances for the Serie A outfit. Giggs claims that he had everything as a defender, and made life quite difficult for him.

"In the Champions League, certainly Zanetti is the strongest defender against I've ever played," the United legend toldCalciomercato.

''He had everything, speed, strength and intelligence. I used to be told that I could make things happen against any defender. But he made everything very difficult."

The 42-year-old also named former Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman as the hardest stopper to beat during his time.

"David Seaman,Arsenal," he said after being asked who was the best keeper he came up against.

''Not only because he was a great goalkeeper, but also for four who defended in front of him, Dixon, Keown, Adams and Winterburn."
