Sack me if I am Hearts of Oak’s problem – Martin Koopman

Published on: 27 October 2023

Hearts of Oak head coach, Martin Koopman is standing by his stance that he is not responsible for the team’s struggles in the Ghana Premier League.

Since the 2023/24 Ghanaian top-flight league campaign commenced, the Phobians have not been able to live up to expectations.

Having played five matches, Hearts of Oak have managed to secure just a single win.

For a team that has only scored one goal in five games, the capital-based club has lost two games and drawn the remaining two.

Due to the poor performance of the team, Hearts of Oak are already in the relegation zone.

Speaking to Akoma FM, Coach Martin Koopman stressed that he is not the reason why the club is struggling.

He argued that if he is the problem, he wouldn’t mind getting sacked for it.

“If I am Hearts of Oak's problem just give me the sack,” the Dutch tactician said.

Last weekend when Hearts of Oak drew goalless with Samartex FC, the coach said his wingers and attackers are not scoring.

He made the argument that this is a problem Ghana is facing and is evident in the national team.

This weekend, Coach Martin Koopman will hope his team will beat Bibiani Gold Stars.
