Senegal records highest-ever FIFA ranking after AFCON 2021 triumph

Senegal has achieved its highest-ever FIFA world ranking following their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations success.

The Teranga Lions clinched their first ever AFCON title in Cameroon after beating Egypt 4-2 on penalties.

The reigning AFCON champion has moved two places in the latest ranking released by FIFA.

Senegal currently occupies 18th position in the world and 1st spot in Africa and it is the highest feat chalked in their history.

Morocco, Nigeria, Egypt and Tunisia complete the top five.

Ghana’s spot has been taken by Burkina Faso who had a run impressive run in Cameroon, finishing fourth. Third-placed Cameroon are now sixth.
