Serie A Strugglers Palermo Looking to Bring in Unemployed Claudio Ranieri for Next Season

Palermo are currently considering bringing inex-Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri in order to help out the Sicilians next season.

According to reports fromCorriere dello Sport, and as reported byFootball Italia, Ranieri might be appointed as the new Palermo manager by the new ownership. However, it won't be an easy task to handle.

Palermo have currently undergone an Italian-American takeover which is still in its embryonic stage. The new president of the club is former TV and Radio celebrity Paul Baccaglini after Maurizio Zamparini recently stepped down.

The currentRosanerocoach Diego Lopez just recently joined the club and is under contract until 2018. The Islanders have gone through eight different managers in just a year before Lopez stepped in, making the club a nightmare for new managers trying to secure their job.

There might wage concerns if the Sicilians are interested in Ranieri, as the famous manager won't come at a cheap price after miraculously winning the English Premier League title with Leicester last season.

The 65-year-old Italian does hold experience with successfully guiding clubs from the Serie B to Italy's top flight after previously doing it with Fiorentina and Cagliari.

The Aquile have hit a new low so far this season and have struggled to keep up with the first division pace. They are seven points adrift of relegation safety, sitting rock bottom in the league table.

This was a club noted for bringing throughtalents, such as Paulo Dybala and Andrea Belotti a couple seasons back, although, it is a different story this season.
