Head coach of Uganda Cranes Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic has revealed his side put in place a lot of measures in order to be ready for Ghana in their opening group D game at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

Coach Micho and his charges suffered a 3-0 defeat to Ivory Coast in Dubai on Wednesday as part of preparations for their opening group game against Ghana on January 17.

Uganda will be at the Nations cup for the first time in 39 years but have had a decent build up towards the tournament after holding the Black Stars to a 0-0 draw in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

Speaking to the Daily Monitor after their defeat to the Elephants, Micho acknowledged the fact that the loss came at the right time prior to the Afcon proper.

“We had a blackout for 20 minutes and that is where match went away from us,” argued Micho, “We pick the confidence that with full team we have been equal while we got space for criticism in 20 minutes of blackout."

“Blessing in disguise is that it happened before Afcon tournament to make us aware what criteria and standards we need to have in order to get 1st goal, 1st point, 1st win,1st passage to quarters after 39years.”

“We shall do so many things in order to be ready for opening match against Ghana on Tuesday. Those things on the field and off the field are not for public consumption Ugandans you just support and pray for your team we shall not let you down looking to die a little for the country.”
