Hearts of Oak midfielder Eric Esso has stated that their underfire head coach Slavko Matic talks to them despite being told to stay away from the team until further notice by the Ghana Police Service.

Earlier reports in the media suggested David Ocloo, assistant coach of the Phobians has been appointed as interim manager.

It is unknown whether the Serbian trainer has been sacked from his role or not.

But Esso who led the rainbow boys to defeat Asante Kotoko in matchday 20 of the Ghana Premier League to clinch the President Cup claims Matic is still at post.

Slavko Matic was appointed by Hearts of Oak after former Medeama coach Samuel Boadu was sacked.

“It’s not easy but as coach Matic is at home, he communicates. He has never stepped down, he still the head coach” Esso said.

The Phobians will travel to Bibiani to face Goldstars in matchday 21 of the domestic top-flight.

Hearts of Oak are 5th on the league table with 31 points after 20 matches into the season.
