Spurs can block Man Utd from signing Real Madrid star Gareth Bale

Tottenham could block Manchester United's plans to bring Real Madrid star Gareth Bale back to England.

The Sunday Express says United will make a third bid to sign the Welsh Superstar this summer after the Spanish champions decided to offload him after an injury plagued year.

Real are ready to cut their losses with Bale who has suffered a string of niggling injuries since moving to the Bernabéu in a world record £85 million move.

But Spurs chairman Daniel Levy had a clause inserted into the terms of the deal that took Bale to Madrid in 2013. It gives Tottenham the chance to match any offers Real receive from the Premier League.

The clause which is valid until June 2019 effectively means that Tottenham have first refusal on bringing Bale back to the the United Kingdom.
