Spurs Manager Mauricio Pochettino Happy With Performance Amid Moussa Sissoko Controversy

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino was pleased to see his side grind out a good result against a resolute Burnley side on Sunday.

Spurs were sloppy during the first period and fell behind to Ashley Barnes' close range finish, but goals from Dele Alli and Danny Rose saw the White Hart Lane club pick up all three points.

There was controversy surrounding Rose's goal, with substitute Moussa Sissoko being issued just a yellow card after a high and rash challenge on Burnley's Stephen Ward.

I didn't see it. I don't know if he touched him or not. The referee saw better than me," Pochettino toldBBC Sport.

"In the Premier League it is very hard to win games. Today we knew Burnley are a team that fights a lot, run a lot and every ball they are ready to challenge.

"The team played in a very good way and we fully deserved the victory. I am pleased for that. It was a very difficult game."

Some slack defending saw Spurs go behind, but Pochettino said he was happy to see his side score twice, coming from behind to win the match.

It came from many unlucky actions. We gave the ball three times. It was a very strange goal. The most important thing is to always believe and fight to try and win the game," Pochettino continued.

They were great goals. I am pleased for that because to get three points was very important for us. We are fighting very close to top four and that is important."

The win leaves Spurs in fifth place, although they have closed the gap on Arsenal, who lost at Manchester City on Sunday. There is now just one point separating the two north London sides, while Liverpool remain a point ahead of Spurs with a game in hand.
