Ghana international Richmond Boakye Yiadom is backing the Black Stars to win the CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament but insists it will only be possible if the team stays united and disciplined.

The West Africa country has gone over three decades without winning the enviable continental title.

For Ghana striker Richmond Boakye Yiadom, the jinx can be broken. According to him, the Black Stars team that goes to the AFCON tournament should have unity and be disciplined in order to have the chance to win the title.

“I have been telling my guys that Ghana will win the Afcon and when they ask me why, I tell them it is because the players feel enough is enough and it is time for us to win it," the former Red Star Belgrade attacker said in an interview with Citi FM.

Boakye Yiadom continued, “Whenever I speak or chat with the boys, most of them say that this time, no joke and we should win the cup.

“And if you have this unity and drive, you can succeed. What you need is unity and discipline.”

The 28-year-old played for the Black Stars in the past and hopes to make a return very soon when his club career is back on track.
