Steve Cherundolo has parted ways with Hannover after 19 years.

Former United States national team defender Steve Cherundolo has left his role at Hannover to join the coaching staff at Stuttgart.

Cherundolo had been with Hannover since joining as a player in 1999, and played his entire club career there, making 370 league appearances until retiring in 2014.

He stayed on after his playing days and most recently coached Hannover's under-17 team, but will now move on to Stuttgart as one of two top assistants under new head coach Tayfun Korkut.

Cherundolo previously worked with Korkut when the Turkey international was in charge of Hannover from 2013-15. Ilija Aracic also joins as Korkut's other assistant.

Cherundolo, 38, made 87 appearances with the U.S. national team and started all of the Americans' games at both the 2006 and 2010 World Cups.
