Stuttgart sports director Fabian Wohlgemuth has explained his outfit decision to sign Ghanaian forward Jamie Leweling on a permanent deal.

Leweling signed a contract that will keep him at the club until June 2028 following an impressive loan spell at the club.

The forward joined Stuttgart on loan from Union Berlin before the start of the 2023/24 and delivered an outstanding performance for the club in the just ended campaign.

The 23-year-old made 38 competitive appearance for Stuttgart this campaign, contributing 10 goals for the club.

Leweling featured in all 34 games in the German Bundesliga, scoring four goals and providing six assists as Stuttgart finished second in the Bundesliga.

“Jamie played in all Bundesliga games of the season. That alone shows his importance for the team. His commitment and willingness to work for the team also make him a very valuable player for us”

“We also see further development potential with Jamie and have therefore decided to tie Jamie to VfB in the long term.” He said.

He will feature in the UEFA Champions League next season after helping Stuttgart to finish second in the Bundesliga.
