Suso: AC Milan back on track after Chinese mess

Published on: 15 October 2018

AC Milan forward Suso is pleased the club have turned a corner under their new American owners after a disastrous time under Yonghong Li.

The Chinese businessman took over in April 2017, but after failing to repay loans to US hedge fund Elliot Manangment, the club were taken over by the Americans.

Suso is happy the club have moved on from that tough period, especially as big names tied to Milan’s history have been brought in to turn things around.

“Everything has calmed down after the mess of the Chinese takeover,” he told Marca. “Everything has changed with the Americans.

“They have brought back legends like [Paolo] Maldini and Leonardo, people that know this club.

“He [Maldini] observes a lot, but says little. The truth is that he makes his presence felt given who he is, but there’s a certain feeling in asking him for help.”

Milan battle Inter in the Derby della Madonnina on Sunday, and Suso already knows who he will dedicate his goal to should he score.

“I’m very relaxed,” he added. “I’m awaiting my child who will be born in four weeks, and we will name him Alessio.

“If I score I will dedicate my goal to him and my girlfriend Alicia.

“I scored two against Sassuolo, but it angered me that I didn’t dedicate it to them. However I know that it was a tough time for us, as we had drawn three straight matches.”
