Suso: Higuain can return AC Milan to greatness

Published on: 06 September 2018

AC Milan winger Suso has lauded the arrival of Gonzalo Higuain, and insists that the striker can lead the club back to success this season.

The Argentine hitman joined the Rossoneri from Serie A rivals Juventus in a season-long loan in August, and Suso was adamant that he could fill a void that would see Milan return to the Champions League for the first time since 2013/14.

“Milan have the chance to return to greatness,” Suso told AS from Spain’s international training camp. “A great striker in Gonzalo Higuain, arrived and I think that was what we lacked.

“In addition, the coach [Gennaro Gattuso] knows what we can offer and knows us, so I think this could be the perfect year to do well.”

Suso has scored 15 goals in 97 appearances for Milan since joining from Premier League club Liverpool in January 2015.

The 24-year-old has been included in new Spain coach Luis Enrique’s first squad for upcoming fixtures against Wales and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
