The fact that Thomas Partey is injury free is massive - Arteta

Published on: 05 March 2022

Thomas Partey stated in December that he would only award himself a 4/10 for his Arsenal career so far. Since joining the club from Atletico Madrid in 2020, he has been injured a lot, but there have also been on-field problems.

Since those remarks, as well as his participation in the Africa Cup of Nations, the Ghana international has been attempting to increase his contributions. Last month, he got his first assist of the season against Brentford.

It came in the middle of a 90-minute performance, sandwiched between two more against Wolves. As a result, Partey has played in all three of Arsenal's recent games.

Partey's manager, Arteta, has been impressed with his attitude and feels that his form and fitness are benefitting each other.

He told a press conference: “When you assess yourself the way Thomas did publicly it’s really rare. Probably that day something clicked.

“The fact that he’s been injury free is massive, but he’s probably more fit as well because he’s doing things better.”
