In a nail-biting showdown that had fans on the edge of their seats, Medeama's strategic tactics came to the fore as they clinched a stunning victory against Nigerian side Remo Stars.

The exhilarating encounter unfolded into a dramatic penalty shootout, a stage where the team's meticulous preparation proved to be the ultimate game-changer.

The home side beat Medeama 1-0 in regular time which ended up being 1-1 on aggregate. Penalties were used to separate the two sides.

Medeama scored three out of five and Remo Stars scored two out of five.

"Overall assessment of the game the tempo was high both sides Medeama was a very strong side and Remo was also trying to catch us. They did a lot of efforts in other to make they win the game. We also were tactically disciplined in other to sit back and wait for them and catch them on a fast break," he told Peace FM as monitored by Footballghana.com

"But at the end of the day it was a nice game we had confidence that we will bounce back and win the game.

"We came in with two objectives either we don't allow them to get a goal here or we tally our lead but unfortunate they got the equalizer but the time they got it helped us to keep the remaining duration to take us to penalties. But we were also prepared for the penalty shootout we came in to win,"

Medeama will play Guinea side Horoya in the next round of the competition.
