This trophy for me would be 'completely different' - Mohamed Salah on winning AFCON

Egypt forward Mohamed Salah says winning the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations will be 'completely different' from winning the Premier League and Champions League with Liverpool.

The 29-year-old played a key role in helping the Reds win the "Big Ear" and coveted Premier League trophy in 2019 and 2020 respectively.

Salah has come close to winning his maiden title with his country after losing to Cameroon in the 2017 AFCON final.

Egypt will take on Morocco in the quarter-finals of the continental tournament after beating Cote d'Ivoire on penalties in the last 16.

"Of course, I want to win something with the national team," Salah said in a press conference.

"It's my country, what I love the most. This trophy for me would be completely different, would be the closest one to my heart.

"We were close before to win this African Cup, we gave it everything but we were not lucky to win it but it's okay.

"Now we are here in the new one, we have to fight for it, we have to give everything to win it, and I'm sure the players have the same feeling.."

Salah has scored one goal in four appearances for Egypt at the AFCON including converting the decisive penalty in the last 16.
