Twitter Reacts to Jamie Vardy's Hat-Trick as Leicester City Destroy Pep's Pedestrian Citizens

Published on: 09 December 2016

Leicester City have been criticised for their underwhelming defence of their Premier League crown this season, with the Foxes lying desperately close the the relegation zone, but the East Midlands club brought all hell down on Manchester City on Saturday evening with an incredibly accomplished display.

Jamie Vardy led the charge with a magnificent hat-trick, and despite Manchester City rallying late on, the Foxes were well-worth their 4-2 victory, in a game that will have deeplyhumiliated Pep Guardiola and his expensively assembled squad.

As is always the case, the Twitter-sphere was only too happy to poke fun at City's underwhelming game and rein in the superlatives for Leicester and Vardy in particular:

.@vardy7 has the match ball secured, time to get the party started! 👊🎉 #LEIMCI pic.twitter.com/YdThmoscye

Guardiola getting a taste of last season's Leicester. Incredible start!

More innovation from Pep: City making the pitch as big as possible when they don't have the ball and as small as possible when they do

Presumaby if Gareth Southgate was watching #LEIMCI then he'll have learned Jamie Vardy and John Stones would make a very creative front pair

#Leicester keep showing us how useless prediction, punditry, form, and precedence are. What a humbling. #JamieVardy, what a player.#ManCity

Take a bow @LCFC take a bow @vardy7 a champion performance! Just what the doctor ordered! A good old thrashing of the minnows! 😂😉ðŸ'ƒ

An absolute peach of a pass from John Stones into Jamie Vardy's path to set up the fourth goal. That's what £50m gets you.

End of September Chelsea were 8 points behind City.....
