U-23 Africa Cup of Nations: Black Meteors hold first training ahead of opener against Congo on Sunday

The Black Meteors held their first training on Thursday night ahead of their opener against Congo in the upcoming 2023 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.

The team arrived in Rabat on Wednesday for the tournament that is scheduled to kick off this weekend.

The Black Meteors opened camp in Cairo for two weeks and as part of their preparations engaged Egypt's U-23 side, a game that ended 1-1.

In their final game, Ghana's U-23 side demolished Zamalek 4-1 on Tuesday evening.

The team will continue their preparations later today before the game on Sunday.

The Black Meteors will hope to open their campaign on a good note at the Rabat’s Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex.

Ghana will take on Morocco in their second Group A game before wrapping up their group games against Guinea.

The Black Meteors are aiming to be part of the three finalists that will qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games that will be hosted in Paris.

The U23 Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2023 will take place between 24 June to 08 July 2023.
