U-23 Africa Cup of Nations: Ibrahim Tanko to announce final Black Meteors squad for tournament today

Black Meteors coach, Ibrahim Tanko is expected to name his final squad today, June 22, ahead of the 2023 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) to be hosted by Morocco.

A 27-man squad has already landed in Rabat on Wednesday night as the tournament is set to kick off this weekend.

With Kamaldeen Sulemana and Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer out of the provisional squad, Tanko will trim down the squad to 23 with four players expected to be dropped.

Meanwhile, Ernest Nuamah, who made his Black Stars debut against Madagascar is expected to join the rest of the team later today.

Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Daniel Afriyie Barnieh and Emmanuel Yeboah of CFR Cluj are all expected to make the squad.

Ghana, before landing in Rabat on Wednesday, June 21, were in Cairo and Alexandria as part of their preparations.

The team recorded a 1-1 draw against Egypt's U-23 side before beating Zamalek 4-1.

Ghana will open their campaign Group A against Congo before taking on the host country, Morocco. The Black Meteors will wrap up their game against Guinea.

Ibrahim Tanko and his charges will hope to be part o the three finalists who make it to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
