U23 AFCON: Black Meteors to move camp to Cairo on June 12

The Ghana U23 national team will hold a mini-training camp in Cairo, Egypt before travelling to Morocco for the U23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

Nicknamed the Black Meteors, the team has been training in Ghana this week as part of preparations for the upcoming continental showpiece.

On Thursday, June 8, Coach Ibrahim Tanko named a provisional 29-man squad for the U23 AFCON.

The squad is made up of four Black Stars players including Kamaldeen Sulemana, Ernest Nuamah, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, and Ransford Yeboah.

In a communique from the Ghana FA to announce the provisional squad, it said the Black Meteors will move camp to Cairo on Monday, June 12.

“Ibrahim Tanko has named a provisional Twenty-nine man squad for camping ahead of the TotalEnergies U-23 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Morocco.

“The Black Meteors will depart Accra on Monday, June 12, 2023, for Cairo where they will camp for two weeks and engage in a series of friendlies before the competition,” parts of the Ghana FA communique said.

Ghana has been pitted in Group A of the U23 AFCON to face Morocco, Guinea, and Congo.
