US Soccer Chiefs Want the Pre-Season El Clasico in Miami to Rival Super Bowl

Real Madrid and Barcelona are set to play each other in a glamour friendly next pre-season in Miami, with the exhibition El Clasico set to take place as both teams prepare for the 2017/18 season, reports theMirror.

The venue for the game is likely to be the newly built 65,000 capacity Hard Rock Stadium. This would be the first El Clasico to take place outside of Spain since 1982, which Real won 1-0 thanks to a goal from Vicente Del Bosque.

Reports claim that the match would feature pre-match and half-time entertainment, much like the Super Bowl. Both Spanish giants have cashed in on lucrative pre-season friendlies in the US in recent years, with over 109,000 people watching Real take on Manchester United in Michigan in 2014. They would cash in again as a stateside El Clasico would sell like gold dust.

Miami has a large football fan base and are awaiting formation of a new MLS franchise in their city, in a project fronted by David Beckham. Luckily for football fans in Miami, they may not have to wait until the proposed 2019 launch date to see the world's stars play in Miami.
