The German was caught on video reacting angrily to a fans' joke handshake. To be fair, it's the kind of prank that belongs in a primary school, but having been snubbed at the last minute, Mertesacker appeared to be a man possessed as he confronted the prankster and showed his displeasure.
On the evidence of this video, it might be best to deploy these kind of pranks elsewhere.
As the expression goes, there's a time and place, and the Emirates stadium right now is neither of those.
