Bechem United beat Accra Hearts of Oak 1-0 in their match week 27 game at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
In the 21st minute, Bechem United was awarded a penalty when Clinton Duodu was fouled in the area after receiving a superb ball from Seth Kwadwo.
Hafiz Wontah Konkoni stepped up and converted, giving the hosts the lead.
After a disagreement with referee Joseph Animakwaw, caretaker coach David Ocloo was sent off in the 33rd minute.
Hearts of Oak were inches away from equalizing when Isaac Mensah connected on a thunderous header, but his effort was easily secured by the goalkeeper.
Emmanuel Avornyo had a great chance to extend the home team's advantage in the second half, but his effort was stopped by Eric Ofori Antwi.
Hearts of Oak poured more men forward to try and get an equalizer but their efforts did not produce any positive results.
Bechem United is 2nd on the league table with 44 points and Hearts of Oak is 4th with 42 points.
The Phobians will play Tamale City in their next league game while Bechem will take on King Faisal.
