Asante Kotoko showcased their dominance in a thrilling encounter, claiming a resounding 3-1 victory against the relegated Akyem Kotoku Royals during match week 31 of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League (GPL).

After enduring a winless streak of two draws and a defeat in their previous league matches, Asante Kotoko roared back to form with a commanding performance, securing a much-needed win.

The triumph propelled Asante Kotoko to the fourth position in the league standings, accumulating a total of 47 points. However, they still trail behind the league leaders, Medeama SC, by six points. Medeama SC currently stands atop the table with an impressive tally of 53 points.

The visiting team wasted no time in stamping their authority on the match, taking an early lead after only 10 minutes of play. It was George Rodrigue Mfegue, the talented Cameroonian striker, who found the back of the net, giving Asante Kotoko the early advantage.

Mfegue continued to excel, extending the lead for the Porcupine Warriors just 18 minutes later, placing them in a comfortable position.

Despite the relegation of the Kotoku Royals, they showed great determination and fighting spirit. In the 35th minute, Richard Dzikoe managed to reduce the deficit with a well-executed goal, providing a moment of celebration for their dedicated fans.

However, Asante Kotoko swiftly reestablished their dominance and regained their two-goal advantage. Youngster Rocky Dwamena seized the opportunity and scored a crucial third goal in the 51st minute, solidifying the comprehensive victory for Coach Abdul Gazale's side.
