The President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has visited the Black Stars at their hotel in Egypt ahead of their opening match in the Africa Cup of Nations against the Squirrels of Benin.
The President’s visit to the Tolip Forsan Island Hotel & Resort is said to be a move to motivate the side as they begin another journey towards winning the prestigious AFCON tournament.
Ghana has failed to conquer the rest of Africa for the past 37 years despite coming close in the last 6 editions. The last time they lifted the trophy was way back in 1982 in Libya.
This year they will have another opportunity to try and restore the lost glory when they participate in the expanded edition.
As they look to play their first group game, President Nana Addo has visited their hotel in Egypt to give some words of encouragement to the team to motivate them before they go on the pitch.
He is expected to be at the Ismaily Stadium in the next hour to watch Ghana battle Benin. Kick off time for the match is at 20:00GMT
