We cannot defend our league title with this poor performance - Asante Kotoko Abdul Gazale

Interim coach of Asante Kotoko, Abdulai Gazale has criticised his players following their defeat against Great Olympics.

The Porcupine Warriors suffered a 2-0 defeat against the Wonder Club on Thursday at the Red Bull Arena at Sogakope.

First-half goals from Michael Osei and Emmanuel Akesseh aided the two-time Ghana Premier League champions to secure three points in the matchday 28 games.

Asante Kotoko failed to make it into the top four by closing the gap on league leaders to five points following the away defeat to Great Olympics.

Speaking after the game, disappointed Gazale slammed the attitude of the players for their uninspiring performance in the away fixtures.

According to him, the attitude will make it difficult for the team to defend its league title or even make the top four.

“Looking at the awful performance and attitude of the players. I wouldn't be fair to myself and the fans by promising them the league title,” Gazale told StarTimes TV.

“Because anytime we plan of securing points from our opponents at their home venue, we end up giving away the points. We can't continue to play like this and expect to finish on top of the league table.

Asante Kotoko will welcome Tamale City to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium for the Ghana Premier League matchday 29 games on Sunday.
