We have good local players; let’s give them a chance in the Black Stars – Korley Laryea

Former Great Olympics player, Korley Laryea has made a case for the inclusion of local players in the Black Stars.

According to him, this will help get fans to the stadia when the national team is playing in the country.

Speaking in an interview, Korley Laryea argued that he strongly believes there are good players in the local league who deserve a chance in the Black Stars.

"It’s not down, but my advice is they have to use the local players to join the national team. When Hearts are playing Kotoko and have about two players in the national team, it will bring the crowd to come and watch the match.

"If Kotoko has about two or three players in the national team, Bofoakwa as well, they call supporters from home to come and watch the matches. Our local players are also good,” Korley Laryea said.

The Black Stars are scheduled to return to action in June for games against Mali and Central African Republic in the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Coach Otto Addo will be expected to give a chance to some of the local players.
