Winning against Kotoko will be the defining moment of our season - Joshua Otoo

Accra Hearts of Oak left back Joshua Otoo insists their victory over arch-rivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko will serve as the motivation to get them on track in the Ghana Premier League.

The Phobians have struggled this season- having lost two games already to leaders Aduana Stars and Tema Youth.

Before yesterday’s game, the rainbow club has not won against the porcupine warriors in Accra for seven years. A record Accra Hearts of Oak were determined to erase.

Vincent Atinga scored an 83rdminute penalty as Accra Hearts of Oak beat Kotoko in Accra. This was the first defeat for Kotoko this season as the phobians rejoice for a hard fought three points.

Joshua Otoo who was playing in his first Super two clash says they were determined to win at all cost.

“In the build up to the game it was really a tensed moment, we were thinking about the game because we were not in a good position. So we needed to win, the motivation and the spirit was high. Going into the game all we had in our mind was to win,” he said.

A win against Kotoko has always provided clubs with an extra motivation. And it was no different for the rainbow club. Joshua Otoo added how beating kotoko will affect them in their next game.

“Kotoko is one of the best team in Ghana and anytime you play against them, you are motivated to give your beat. So winning this game will give us the needed motivation to go on and win more matches.”

Accra Hearts of Oak will next face Berekum Chelsea in the Ghana Premier League.
