Wolves Poised to Beat Liverpool to Signing of Brazilian Forward Anderson Talisca

Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly set to smash their transfer record and beat Liverpool to the signing of Benfica forward Anderson Talisca.

The Sunclaim that the player has flown to England to pen a deal with the Midlands club, who have seen their coffers swell as a result of a Chinese takeover. Super agent Jorge Mendes is also said to be scouring the market for stars to recruit for the English outfit.

Talisca has emerged as a target for the agent, who has been contracted byWolves' new Chinese owners Fosun International. The consortium hold aminority share in Gestifute, Mendes' sports agency business, and he helped advise their takeover of Wolves.

Mendes is also understood to be friends with the club'snew manager Walter Zenga.

The Express and Starpictured theagent and Benfica president Luis Felipe Vieira at Wolves' opening Championship game away to Rotherham on the weekend.

Talisca posted a photo to Instagram on Sunday, stating that he was ready for a new challenge.

The contract, strangely, could only amount to one year despite the deal being a permanent one and not a loan.

Benfica have asked for the sumof £20m in order to part with the player, but the final fee could be lower.

Liverpool were thought to be interested in signing the forward as well, yet with Mendes weighing in quite heavily on the deal, the player seems set to join Wolves instead.

The 22-year-old - known for his creativity, passing ability, strength and pace - would be welcome almost anywhere. If Wolves do pull this off, their prospects would immediately improve.

They should rethink the contract length, though. Spending anything in the region of £20m for a one-year-deal just doesn't make much sense.
