World Cup 2022: Argentina, Poland through to knockout stage after nervy end to Group C

Group C has been wrapped up with Argentina and Poland progressing to the knockout stages of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The final round of games in the group was played on Wednesday, November 30, with all four countries having a good chance to qualify for Round 16.

In the games played, Argentina locked horns with Poland while Saudi Arabia faced off with Mexico.

In a round of games where all four national teams put up a good fight, it ended in dramatic fashion.

Argentina defeated Poland 2-0 in a game where Messi wasted a penalty kick in the first half.

Courtesy of goals from Alexis Mac Allister and Julián Álvarez, Argentina finished top of Group C with six points.

Despite the defeat, Poland held on to finish second on the group log with four points.

Tied on points with Mexico who beat Saudi Arabia 2-1, Poland edged through thanks to a better goal difference.

At the Round 16 stage, Argentina will face off with Australia while Poland takes on France.
